March – October
Home to some of the highest concentrations of elephant on the planet along with lion, leopard, and buffalo, it’s no wonder our seasoned adventurers voted Hwange National Park “Top Destination of 2023.” Over the last year, we’ve been quietly working with our Zimbabwe partners to reintroduce two white rhinos to the park, making them the first in Hwange in nearly 20 years! Our travelers are in for the thrill of a lifetime as we visit Thuza and Kusasa in their new sanctuary and learn about this groundbreaking conservation work.
May & September – October
When it comes to experiencing the legendary Silk Road, Uzbekistan has it all-the famed ancient cities of Samarkand, Bhukara, and Khiva and the traditional villages of the Nurata Mountains. In this cultural jewel of Central Asia, we’ll put you in the footsteps of traders, mystics, and the great Emperor Timur himself, and all under the guidance of our beloved Trip Leader Hashmat Singh.
February – March & October – November
For this ancient city, the word “new” rarely comes to mind, so we’re thrilled to begin our Egypt and Jordan adventures with a visit to Cairo’s stunning new Grand Egypt Museum, which opens January 2023! More than ten years in the making, we’ll be among the first groups to experience the largest archaeological institution in the world, housing a dazzling array of treasures.
November – March
You can’t go wrong visiting any part of Patagonia but when we asked our Latin America Specialists (who have explored the most remote corners of the region), they said don’t miss Tierra del Fuego, the breathtaking austral realm on its southernmost tip. Our flagship Patagonia adventure explores this superlative-packed archipelago, where you can spot Magellanic penguins and austral parakeets, hike below glaciers, and cruise Darwin’s famous Beagle Channel.
January – February & October
Beautiful beaches and rich cultural sites are major draws to this less-visited corner of West Africa, but getting to know the Ghanaian people is what makes this adventure one of our most unforgettable. In Kumasi, capital and spiritual center of the Ashanti Kingdom, enjoy the joyous pageantry of the traditional Akwasidae Festival and spend time with locals in remote villages.
April – May & September – October
For an escape that feels far-flung but is close to home, check out the San Juan Islands, an otherworldly 130-island archipelago off of Washington’s coast. You’ll voyage through the Salish Sea by small yacht to discover hidden beaches, bays, and old-growth forest accessible only by boat—giving you prime viewing locations for whales, orcas, seals, sea lions, bald eagles, and seabirds.
October – March
If you’ve ever wanted to experience the surreal “lost city” of Angkor Wat without major crowds, this is the year to go! Visitors have been slow to return to Cambodia, allowing Siem Reap, the gateway to Angkor Wat, to complete a $150 million upgrade to its tourism infrastructure earlier this year.
October – May
The pristine Micronesian archipelago of Palau has had a much-needed reset while visitation was restricted due to Covid. One of our journey’s most exciting snorkeling stops, famed Jellyfish Lake, with its millions of stingless jellyfish, has reopened after several years of restoration—it’s a thrill to snorkel among these tiny creatures!
Year-Round
Ecuador’s rainforest is better preserved and more accessible than other parts of the Amazon, making it ideal for exploring before or after our yacht-based Galápagos adventures. Be whisked away to the remote and biodiverse Napo Wildlife Center and get to tour a private reserve inside Yasuní National Park with the Kichwa Añangu community as your guides.
June – July & August – September
With miles of jagged mountains spilling into stunning fjords, there’s no shortage of awe-inspiring vistas in Sunnmøre, a hidden gem along Norway’s west coast. The sheer majesty can be overwhelming, but our venerable Trip Leader Stefano Pozzi has picked out the very best hikes for you, along with the traditional farmsteads with the best Nordic home cooking.
